Located on California’s famous Central Coast, Pismo Beach is a classic California beach town. As such, nearly all its hotels offer ocean views to the west and coastal mountain views to the east. What makes the SeaVenture unique is our location directly on the beach. You don’t have to venture down any cliffs or stairs to be right where the action is – on the beach! Just open your doors, and you’re literally steps away from long stretches of sand and spectacular sunsets.

Pismo Beach is located halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles along the Pacific Coast and 101 Highways. With a population of roughly 8,000, it’s a classic beach town with a small-town feel. Its location in the heart of the Central Coast region makes it an ideal destination for enjoying area wineries, golfing, horseback riding, going four-wheeling on area sand dunes, surfing, or dining by the seaside. With long stretches of white beach and the stunning Pismo Beach pier, the town delivers leisurely strolls, stunning sunsets, and a range of activities for individuals, couples, and families. Hiking is another popular activity, and visitors can look forward to exploring the highly anticipated opening of the Pismo Preserve — coming soon! San Luis Obispo is a quick, 10-mile drive from Pismo Beach, and many visitors take advantage of this close proximity to visit the Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa, Farmer’s Market, and charming downtown. Others venture a little further to visit Hearst Castle, visit the elephant seals, or travel to wine country.
Yes. The Pismo Beach Pier was recently renovated, and its long wooden structure is visible from many of the local hotels and resorts. The pier is surrounded by a 60-acre regional beach and promenade, with access to public restrooms, sand showers, volleyball courts, children’s play equipment, benches, and drinking fountains. There is a parking lot adjacent to the pier and at the end of Addie Street that includes handicapped parking. You can walk from the SeaVenture Beach Hotel to the Pismo Pier in just a few minutes.
There are multiple ways to find hotels near you. One easy way is to go to Google Maps and type in a destination or city name. Then, type in “nearby hotels” to see a range of options. Most map apps on smartphones also offer an option of searching nearby hotels. Searching travel services, like Kayak.com or TripAdvisor.com, is another method.
The Shore Cliff Hotel and Pismo Lighthouse Suites both offer tennis courts, which must be reserved. In addition, there are public tennis courts available in Pismo Beach, including the Palisades Park courts.
There are only two hotels in Pismo Beach that are directly on the beach — just walk out your hotel door and you’re there! One is our very own SeaVenture Beach Hotel and Restaurant, and the other is the Sandcastle Hotel.
The Oceano Dunes Natural Preserve is a popular tourist destination on the Central Coast that runs adjacent to two small towns, Grover Beach and Oceano. Visitors to the area usually stay in nearby Pismo Beach, which serves as the tourist and accommodation hub for the region. There are dozens of hotels to choose from, most featuring cliffside views of the Pacific Ocean, and some, like SeaVenture, that offer beachfront access.
There are more than two dozen restaurants in Pismo Beach alone, from bars and grills to the finest seafood restaurants. Some of the local favorites include Giuseppe’s and Splash Café. Here at the SeaVenture Beach Hotel & Restaurant, we have among the most highly-acclaimed Pismo Beach restaurants. Guests can view breathtaking sunsets from our third-floor restaurant, which offers both indoor and outdoor seating. We serve contemporary coastal cuisine using locally harvested produce, meats, and seafood.
Of the more than two dozen restaurants in Pismo Beach, roughly seven of them offer some sort of true ocean view. Those include the Ventana Grill, the Oyster Loft, and the SeaVenture Restaurant with our panoramic third-floor ocean views. There are additional restaurants in nearby Shell Beach, Avila Beach, and Grover Beach that feature ocean views.
A popular tourist attraction, the Pismo Beach Pier has approximately 10 nearby restaurants within easy walking distance. Those include the Somerset Grill, Wooly’s and, of course, our own SeaVenture Restaurant where Chef Eddie Ruiz prepares seasonal menus, featuring the finest ingredients, locally sourced.
There are a variety of venues to choose from, depending on what you’re looking for and the size of your party. Many area hotels offer meeting space, as well as area businesses such as the Avila Beach Community Center and the Four Sisters Ranch Vineyards & Winery.
